Friday Blahs

Ok I'll admit it. I don't like Fridays. There I said it and anybody that happens upon this blog is thinking I must be nuts. I have my reasons and most are about privacy and sanity, but I much prefer the weekdays to weekends in the winter. Come spring and summer that changes as I try to get out and race a couple times. But I still would rather have weekdays.

I am so sick of Political ads. Here in Ohio we vote in 4 days. My phone rings 25 times a day with the stupid political calls. I've gotten about 350 mailings for candidate and issues. Don't even ask about the commercials. Maybe I am unique  here, but I research the candidates and don't need to be persuaded with all that crap. Its nice that the politicians excluded political calls from the Do Not Call List because everybody knows it great to be interrupted by babbling politicians. Well thats all for now. My son has what could be his last hockey game of this season tonight as its tournament time and they are in the losers bracket. One more loss and they are out. We have one more tournament in a couple weeks, but that team is a group of players put together from several teams.

The Day After

So today was the day after for the Columbus Blue Jackets. Lets just say the game went as I suspected. Not so well. They got burned on the PK and thats what I expected. While I have been saying the season has been over for a few weeks now I secretly hoped they could pull it out. I thinks its pretty obvious that the season is now truly over after tonight. They played well and hard to start, but the team was hopelessly outclassed with the additions San Jose made and the trades the jackets didn't make. Vybs had a couple goals, but where was Zherdev or Nash besides his fight? Not exactly the team leader we need him to be. Its more than fighting or hitting. Its the intangibles that all together make a man the captain. I hope we win a few more games, but I fear that the next 17 will bring about 15 losses and a huge problem for the CBJ management. Who really wants to come here into a losing environment? Its gonna be a long summer. I hope my son gets on some good teams so I can see some winning as this year started well for both the CBJ and my sons team and both have gone straight to the trash.

I'm off to bed with my meds in my belly. Please let there be school.

Way to go Bro

It was a big day today in my family. My youngest brother was named Treasurer of Bank of America. Its pretty incredible when I think about it, but he has worked hard. I'm not so sure he's done moving up the ladder. In any case if you wanted to read it look here.

Of course the rest of the day was not so great as it was the trade deadline in the NHL. The Columbus Blue Jackets traded 2 vets in Sergei Federov and Adam Foote. I liked Feds, but knew this was coming. I'm not so happy with the player we got in return. Getting a first and (almost certainly) a fourth for Foote was not too shabby. The truth is coming out about how the Foote deal went down and all I will add is that the way Adam acted was not like a captain and I think its pretty clear now that the comments he made over the summer about wanting to be back in Colorado were not too far from the mark. Good riddance Adam--thats not how a captain leads his team.

Rumblings

Its been several days since I posted. Life has its ups and downs. I've been suffering considerably from whatever is going on with my shoulder. Today though was supposed to be the day I got an idea of what's wrong with an Arthrogram.

Unfortunately just as I was heading out this morning for the 45 minute drive to the hospital I got a call that the MRI machine would not start up. I was cancelled. Now I must wait another 2 weeks to get in. Tuesday is my wife's day off and the only day I can get up for the test which they only do at 8:15 AM. Needless to say I'm not happy to tack 2 more weeks on to this. I have stuff piling up everywhere and now get 2 weeks added to whenever the end might be.

In another world its trading deadline day in the NHL. The CBJ have put together an offer to Tampa for Brad Richards. A top line center is among our needs. I don't know all that much about Richards, but having watched GM Scott Howson for many months it's clear he knows about this game. I hope we get him, but am realistic enough to know that its pretty unlikely. Oh well maybe we can just dump everybody and start over. If we do send Feds, Vybs, Foote, Manny, Hainsey, and Peca the season will certainly be over. I'm not so sure we can hope to be competitive replacing those guys and addressing the real needs which remain a #1 Center and a #1 D-Man. Gonna be a few years before we get to this point again if things don't work out properly. I don't know if I can handle it.

Finally Roger "the liar" Clemens is back in the news again today. Seems that his lies are catching up to him and the Federal Government is about to put a target on his ass. Not the target where he got all the injections though. His momma said take B-12 and he just said give me the needle instead of swallowing a pill. Yeah everybody does that. Oh and the lidocaine injections too... because everybody loves a shot in the butt instead of a lidoderm patch. Yeah I use them for LOCAL use. Rogers butt must have been really painful. So I think i've established that most people would rather take a pill or slap a patch on instead of getting a shot, but not Roger. He's so tough. He also thinks he's invincible--like a teenager or an athlete on the juice!

Snow, Pain, and Lies

I'm sick of the snow. I live in Ohio so we expect some snow. No the drivers can't manage to drive in it properly. The kids were home again today due to the weather and today I fully understood. Don't get me started on some of the other snow days... As usual my neighbor called to borrow my tractor to plow his drive. A couple years ago I was nice and let him borrow it once. Ever since then he expects to use it. IT's really pissing me off now. He has the same tractor as me, but he does not have the plow. He could buy said plow for about $400 and plow whenever he wants to, but NOOOOO he uses mine.  Never mind that he plows during freezing rain which is a big no-no and despite my telling him not to plow my drive he always does thus leaving MY drive a frozen mess as well. He has a job and a wealthy family so buying the plow is nothing. I have no job and thus little money and like to keep my stuff for myself.

I went to the Dr. on Wednesday and left in more pain from the examination. Next week I get an Arthrogram which will help to determine what's going on. Its a type of MRI with a dye to help make things easier to see. I have some titanium screws in there from a previous surgery and they make it hard to see what's going on. I got more drugs, but have not been to the pharmacy yet.

So my good liar Roger Clemens is back in the news. Apparently his lawyers now say he may have been at the party that they so vehemently denied. Of course they only admit this after a report comes out that there are photos of Roger taken at the party being touted by the other guys. Oh yeah the owner of the photos offered them to Clemens first, but they wanted nothing to do with them as had they seen them they would have had to LIE to congress. I guess to them it was fine for Roger to lie... Again I hate lawyers.

Pain and Agony

So we went to Findlay Ohio to play in a Squirt tournament. The kids did Ok finishing 2-2 and taking 5th place out of 8. I spent the weekend in excruciating pain. something has happened to my heavily repaired shoulder. I've had so many procedures on my shoulder it looks like a railroad yard with all the scars. So in any case pain has been building and my oxycontin doses have not even touched the pain. Traveling in pain is awful too. I'm back home and going to the orthopedic surgeon today and once again I'm scared. I hate surgery. My life has been full of surgery the past 12 years. So its put on a happy face and cry from the pulling and twisting. I asked my wife to come with me which is possible because she works in the same office as the surgeon. She is also his partner so I get good care and access to the best physicians. It means a lot to get to see doctors that other people have to wait to see. I got in to a foot and ankle surgeon last year for surgery to fix a botched surgery on my foot. Without the access to docs it would never happen. Moral of the story is..... marry a Dr. kids.

So if you read any of my blog leave me a comment. Its words of encouragement that will get me through this next round.

One last thing... My Columbus Blue jackets have tanked. This season and the push for the playoffs has been tantalizing, but its over. Unfortunately I don't think next year will be any better. In my mind THIS was the year and there will be quite the mountain to climb to get back to the point they were a month ago--just before the ASG. The trades are coming and the team will look quite different. I've so much enjoyed having Sergei Fedorov on the team and hope he gets dealt to a contender that allows him another shot at a cup. Adam Foote has not impressed me much. He is not the shut down D-man we need. This poor signing goes back to Dougie Mac. I hope current GM Scott Howson does not compound this by signing him again. The trade deadline is less than a week away and the CBJ should be picked clean and ready for yet another high draft pick. Maybe we can get someone that can contribute right away as a CENTER. time to take my meds.

So I'm up in Findlay Ohio at a youth hockey tournament. I'm tired, cranky, and hungry. No I'm not playing my son is. Well sort of. His coach seems to forget to put him in all the time. He also brings extra players from other teams and those kids play. It's very frustrating. I gotta go take my evening dose of Oxycontin. I need some sleep..... In a hotel with 45 hockey players running and jumping at all hours.....

scumsuckers

I despise lawyers. They are just so sleazy. In my opinion the y have no morals and lie worse than any criminal. Take for instance the scumbags defending Clemens. These guys have the audacity to claim NOBODY tried to contact Clemens about the Mitchell report. Poor Roger knew nothing of this report. It took him by complete surprise. Now the funny thing is poor innocent Roger had already hired attorneys and investigators before the release of the report, but he still claims he knew nothing of it or their repeated attempts to contact him. Today on espn.go.com the is a story that clearly lays out some of the events before the release of the report.

Guess what? Poor innocent Roger was having his investigators try to uncover what he was going to be accused of. Boy that sure does sound different from what he told members of Congress under oath. If you misremembered (i love that new word) what Roger said it was That he is easy to get ahold of. Even former president Bush got ahold of him while he was hunting. Now poor Rogers lawyers kept saying nobody contacted them or his agents or his hairdresser (who did a wonderful job btw--NOT!(in Borat accent)) or his gardner or nanny. No Roger is innocent and we are all stupid. Republican Congressman trumpeted his good deeds and slammed his accuser for being a liar. Roger never lied. He just said everybody misremembered and misheard. Roger is the victim in this. Roger was only helping when he magically found his own nanny and urger her to tell the investigators that he was not at the Conseco party. Oh poor Roger. How do you go on living? I have an idea for you. Become a lawyer. You've already mastered the ability to lie.

I gotta go back to some TV. I'll be at a hockey tournament this weekend so the TV viewing will be lighter than normal.

Blah Blah Blah

So get this. I woke up this morning to find out our phones are down. Land-line phones are a thing of the past, but we keep one as cell service was poor until recently in our neck of the woods. Thanks Verizon for promising to fix them in the next 3-4 days. There is a heaping amount of sarcasm in that thanks! Looks like its T-Mobile for the next few days. Kinda sucks since I'll be out of town at a hockey tournament.

Speaking of hockey... How about those Blue Jackets? a 7-2 loss. Great job guys. That makes 5 losses in a row at home. Way to make the playoff push for the first time. I had to miss the game last night. I had my blackberry updating every couple minutes on the score and it kept going up. Pathetic results. Trade em all for all I care. And the CBJ season ticket reps wonder why people don't renew their tickets. Games like that one guys.

Ok onto todays TV schedule. Notting Hill is on SHO HD. Watched D2 Mighty Ducks. Caught the end of Victory with Stallone (1981). Watched some of Dead Again and I need to watch yesterdays DOOL which I skipped to watch Clemens lie his ass off. Today we also have NASCRAP Duel 150's although BOOO to you DiSH Network for not giving them to us in HD on SPEED HD. I love HD. We have 4 HD TV's in the house. I'm gonna list one on CraigsList if you want it. Its a Samsung 27" tube HDTV monitor. Cheeeeep. Later.

Roger Clemens is Guilty as Hell

I've been watching ESPN HD all day on the Congressional Hearing into Steroids and HGH with regards to Roger Clemens. Let me say this in no uncertain terms.

ROGER CLEMENS IS A LIAR AND IS GUILTY AS HELL

Is that clear enough? The other thing I must say is that this country needs a shit-load of new Congressional leaders. How much butt kissing can be displayed by the Republicans? Apparently more than I dreamed.

I am a staunch Republican. I have never in my life voted for a Democrat. What I am watching today has opened my eyes. From my perspective most Republicans have already decided Clemens shit does not stink. He is a saint. He has never in his life told a lie, and finally his attorneys are there as interested bystanders. What a bunch of crap. This McNamee guy may not have been truthful in the past, but what he is saying is being picked apart to basically look for grammatical errors while Clemens is getting softballs. Clemens is dirty and his attorneys are worse.

I'm not a Dr. and These Congressman are not Dr.'s, but having worked 10 years in the medical world its pretty damn clear Roger Clemens takes his health seriously. Why would he utilize the services of his trainer to perform services normally provided by a Dr.? Because he is trying to HIDE something. Physicians make note of everything--If its not documented its not done. Clemens wanted none of this done. A trainer can't provide meds without a Dr. present.

I skipped DOOL today to watch this. Man what am I doing?

Crappy Weather

How about this stuff? Freezing rain, snow, rain, and back to snow again. Kids at home all day with Mom too. Oh boy that was rough. You would think the snow would cause many people to slow down and drive calmly, but not around here in C-Bus. Kids are home on a delay again today so its about time to begin getting them ready for school. Time to take my Oxy.

Tuesday, February 12, 2008

Ok so here is some info about me: Yes I am a house husband although I really don't do the things I am supposed to do. I end up surfing the net all day and watching TV. No really as a kid we had 3 channels of TV and then 4. Now I have more than 500 thanks to satellite TV. Its just too much to handle. I need to know what's on all the time. I am actually getting much better. In my backyard are 7 satellite dishes. These are all hooked up. My dish graveyard add another 8 or 9. I used to need to know what was on the other channel at the same time I was watching this channel. My basement has 11 working TV's in one room. All hooked up to different satellite dishes. All pointed at different satellites. Some dishes are the large C-Band kind that are virtually extinct. Some are the little 18" Dish Network and Directv style. Some are KU band hunting for feeds. I don't use many of those anymore, but I can't bear to take them down.
Now you understand my TV needs. Have you ever watched a sport without commercials? Yeah in person is great, but not possible for all. On my big dish we got everything--without commercials. Listening to the announcers talk while everyone else was learning about viagra or budweiser. Oh yeah those dishes also give you your favorite show hours and sometimes days before it airs. Wanna freak some people out? I gotta go now. The TV's on and i'm missing something.

Welcome to my World

Welcome.

Its a simple word that has nearly vanished from our world.

Remember Welcome Wagon? Yeah me to. Apparently its still around, but now you get a map and some coupons to a chinese restaurant that closed 2 years ago.

See what I mean?

For stopping here you get about the same. Well except for the map and coupons.

In any case... Welcome.

I'm hoping to figure out this whole Blog lifestyle and yes I realize I'm about 10 years late to the party. The other thing is I promise to not write like this ever again. You know like a journalism major with one sentence paragraphs. In any case welcome to what's left of me following my daily regime of 20 mg of Oxycontin in the Morning and 40mg in the evening.
