I took the kids to our local airport (KDLZ) here in Delaware. Only about 5 minutes away. They had their semi-annual airshow which consists mostly of the 35 or so airplanes at the field on display along with a few warbirds that flew in. The "star" of the show was the B-25 Mitchell bomber. It was on static display and then flew about 7 or 8 passes at low altitude and a fairly high speed. Here is a good shot I somehow managed to get. There were a couple T-6's and some aerobatic planes. Diamond had a mockup of their new D-Jet. We also got a couple of F-16's that made a couple passes including full afterburner straight up. Not a full demo, but enough to make the hair stand up on your neck. Frudoch and Poppy loved it. They even got autographed photos from Emerson Stewart III who did an aerobatic display just after the F-16 flybys.
Tomorrow its more airplanes including a full F-16 demo from Viper East at the Historical Aircraft Squadron Airshow in Lancaster Ohio. Its about 30 miles away and it has several more displays including a MiG 17 and B-17 as well as a P-51 Mustang. It should be a great small show. Next week the plan is to go up to Cleveland for their annual Labor Day Airshow. The Blue Angels are scheduled to be there and its a big show so there will be lots to do. Hope the weather holds up. If you want to learn more about airshows got to
www.airshowbuzz.com and spend some time looking around.
School starts back on Wednesday so we have lots to do to get summer out our systems. I don't know if I remember how to get to the pool as its been so long since we went there.
